Weekend schools throughout the country introduce less privileged children to enthusiastic professionals from various disciplines. Every Sunday, for an entire school year, children visit a variety of organisations like a hospital, theatre, museum and court of law. Professionals explain what their work entails and let the children take a peek behind the scenes of their workplaces! This is how the weekend schools try to appeal to the curiosity and talents of less fortunate children and to broaden their horizon through experience.
The Heutink Foundation makes theatre and museum visits possible
The Heutink Foundation supported no less than 3 weekend schools in 2018: Toppers on Sundays (Enschede), Fun to learn (Arnhem) and IMC Basis ( Amsterdam). Our contribution is specifically used to add theatre, art and museum visits to the programme of these weekend schools.
The Heutink Foundation was actively involved in the cultural programme in Enschede. On Sunday 13th and 20th January 2019, colleagues from the Heutink Group, in collaboration with Theaterhotel Almelo and dance and singing teachers Tessa, Jenny and Fee, organised a 2-day theatre workshop for the children at the ‘Toppers Op Zondag’ Weekend School.
